They say there is strength in numbers; and at Alumasc Roofing we have witnessed first hand how many hands can make a huge impact.
We are pleased to announce that this year we became a founding member of the Knowsley Wellbeing and Nature Alliance: a programme delivered by Grow CIC, which focuses on improving access to green space across Knowsley to benefit physical and mental health.
Alongside 23 other local businesses, we have committed to supporting structured, measurable activity at Bowring Park and Golf Club over the next 12 months; activity that will translate into huge social impact throughout the area.
Following our initial donation of £1000, we were keen to get our hands dirty in the extensive tidy-up operation at Forest School – an area of young woodland in Knowsley that serves as an outdoor learning space for hundreds of local children. Paths were created, overgrowth trimmed back, and natural clearings uncovered, in a day that marked just the start of many improvements planned by Grow CIC.
In recent weeks, we and our fellow alliance members came together again, this time to remodel a tired old shipping container into a vibrant new community space within the Bowring Park and Golf Club kitchen gardens. Between us, we tackled a huge to-do list that might otherwise have taken the organisation weeks. The container is now a comfortable shelter for visitors, and will support all the growing and cooking activities taking place in the kitchen.
The transformation achieved in just one day, not only brings a derelict space back to the community for the good of all those who use it, but also feeds our team’s enthusiasm and motivation for whatever challenge Grow CIC throws at us next!
