On 25th March 2017, Violet-Grace Youens from St Helens tragically passed away in hospital after being struck by a stolen car in a hit-and-run the previous day. She was just four years old.
Having made the heart-breaking decision to donate two of Violet’s organs, parents Becky and Glenn Youens went on to establish Violet-Grace’s Gift: a registered charity that promotes organ donation while supporting local hospitals, community projects, bereaved families and seriously ill children.
Nine years later, Violet’s memory continues to live on in the hearts of local residents, with businesses, organisations and individuals across the area regularly fundraising for the charity that proudly bears her name. Her legacy is one of kindness, compassion and hope, inspiring the community to come together to help others.
Last year, our team here at Alumasc Roofing in St Helens was proud to support the Violet-Grace Christmas Toy Collection by donating gifts for children and families in need.
This annual collection provides Christmas presents for children spending the festive season in Alder Hey and Whiston hospitals, along with essential everyday items that are kept in storage for families visiting their little ones. These thoughtful donations bring comfort, smiles and a little festive cheer during what can be an incredibly difficult time.
Violet’s legacy continues to shine through the generosity and compassion shown not only by our staff here at Alumasc Roofing, but also by the many people across St Helens who continue to honour her memory by supporting such a vital cause.
