Greenside Place

Alumasc provided the superb green roof system crowning Edinburgh's most exciting new commercial and leisure development. Greenside Place is a £73 million scheme that includes office space, bar/restaurants, a five-star hotel, health club and 12-screen cinema. It features eight separate green roof areas including an expansive rooftop garden on the hotel. The location is in a World Heritage site that had lain vacant for many years - the green roofs played a significant part in helping the development gain planning permission. Alumasc products where chosen because Alumasc could supply every element of the green roof and because the system met many of the challenges presented by the site. Hydrotech waterproofing was ideal for this project as it could be laid on the zero degree roof slab without a costly screed. The phased programme also meant the waterproofing had to be very robust to enable following trades to work on it.
